By now, I’m sure you’ve read many posts online from small businesses who have had to indefinitely shut their doors, lay off staff, change their business practices or anything in between. For small business owners/entrepreneurs to shut down or change their practices, it can be life altering—or at the very least, terrifying. Many of these people rely on these ventures as their sole source of income, as do their employees.
Luckily, though, for the business owners in Saugeen Shores, they can take comfort in the fact that they are part of one of the most supportive, come-together communities around.
Saugeen Shores, here are some simple ways to help support your favourite businesses through this time:
Purchase a Gift Card
Purchasing a gift card is one of the easiest ways to support your favourite local businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. Purchase a gift card now, help their business stay afloat, and then when all this is over, you can pop into their store and choose something you love.
Order Takeout
At this time, local restaurants are allowed to remain open for takeout or no-contact delivery. You can even purchase alcohol with your meal! Why not “skip the dishes” for a night and order from your favourite local restaurant?
Order a Door Delivery
Many local businesses have changed their business models to allow for door delivery during this time as a way to stay open and prominent. Your favourite spas are replacing facials with at-home skincare packages. Clothing and décor stores are showcasing products online and allowing you to purchase via e transfer and have items delivered to your door—no contact and completely free.
Purchase a Print
We have tons of amazing local artists in our area. Many photographers have shut down client service to ensure social distancing measures are met properly. Since you can’t book a shoot, consider purchasing a print from them instead (or a gift card)!
Show Support Online
With layoffs, shut downs and hour cuts, it’s also understood that this is a financially tight time for many of us. Liking, sharing or commenting on social media doesn’t cost a thing! If you love a business, show them some love online. If you made a purchase, share it to your social media and tag the business. Showing your support doesn’t always have to mean spending money.
Right now, it is more important than ever to support our local businesses. In these uncertain times, we must do our best to ensure these businesses can make it through to the other side. A small purchase or message of support can go a long way!
I was born and raised in Saugeen Shores. I’ve been analyzing the market for years and am familiar with every unique aspect the community has to offer. I am passionate about real estate and finding you your dream home. I also have a background in interior design. This means I can not only help you find the perfect home, but if the home isn’t move-in ready when purchased, I can help you envision its potential and work with you to make it your ideal space. If you’re selling a home, my knack for interior design will shine through when staging the home and adding finishing touches prior to listing. If you have questions about the local market, or are looking to buy or sell your home, contact me! I’m happy to help.
